Starfield Playability Through Ultimate Game Pass

My girlfriend pre-ordered Starfield for my birthday and I was so excited to play it on my actual birthday. Then, I got notified that I could pre-download it. When I tried to do so, it said Incompatible.

I reached out to Bethesda support and still haven’t received any response to date. I scoured the internet and found out the game is only playable on X or S.

As frustrating as this is, I’m now trying to find out how Ultimate Game Pass works and haven’t been able to find any info.

Are you able to play games like Starfield that aren’t compatible with Ultimate or am I’m just out of luck?

That’s great news, but help me understand. If I purchase Ultimate Pass, how does it play on my Xbox?

I just don’t want to go through all this hassle of buying things to find out it doesn’t work.

Any explanation and details would be appreciated.

Once the game releases, there will be an option to play it on the cloud when you look at it through the store on the console (it'll look like a little cloud icon). You would click on that and it will open the game through the cloud.

Unless you plan to buy either a Series S or Series X in the not too distant future, you might want to think about cancelling your pre-order for Starfield. The game will be part of the GP Ultimate as a game stream if you subscribe to the service.

You can play Xbox Ultimate cloud streamed games on phone's, tablets, PC/laptops and on Xbox consoles as long as you have an ultimate subscription and a compatible controller.

Not all games, but Starfield will be available through the cloud with Ultimate so you would be able to play it through that with Ultimate.
