    Xbox Series X games / upgrades / updates has to be installed onto the Series X internal or expansion card SSD,

    You can have Xbox One games on your external hard drive that will get an Series X upgrade but the games will need to be transferred to the Series X and then the Series X upgrade will need to be downloaded onto the Series X SSD,

    As an example...

    I have Marvel Avengers on my external hard drive that will get the Series X upgrade and I will transfer the game over to the Series X SSD ready to download and update the game to the Series X version when available.

    Hi Peter,

    It's likely that your SSD does not meet the minimum speed requirements for the Xbox One X. You may try upgrading to a faster SSD that meets the minimum requirements.

    Hey Wikkiwild1!

    I'm afraid there isn't an option for you to replace the internal HDD. As you mentioned, you can use an external SSD so long as it has at least 256GB of storage and a USB 3.0 connection :)

    bad idea Xbox Series X shows off its new removable memory card

    I like the idea and having 1tb in the system keeps the retail cost down on the console and when the time is right, there is an upgrade path available.

    SSD drives do not get damaged when left connected and these are different to memory cards you are referring to. An SSD is designed to be constantly accessed.
