Spouses Microsoft account got hacked

My spouses Microsoft account got hacked. She still has access to her emails on outlook but lost access to her Microsoft and Xbox account. The primary email was never changed but the recovery email was changed to a mailnesia.com email. I’ve tried helping her with the account recovery but we get denied instantly even though all the information is accurate. She needs this email account for work and I’m not sure what else to do. If she’s ever logged out of her main account on outlook then it’s gone forever. Again her primary email is still correct but we only have one option for recovery email and it’s that random email. Is there anything that can be done? Any way for us to find out the email address? If I was able to find out that information that would help a lot. Please don’t post account recovery links because we’ve tried that for the last year and it doesn’t work.

Unfortunately the only possible way to recover your account is by filling the account recovery form. If that is unsuccessful, then you may have to come to terms with that your account may be lost indefinitely.

Having said that, unfortunately, from what you said, it's going to be hard to get your account, specially if the hacker turned on 2FA. I'm going to be as blunt as I can, but your account is most likely lost.

Right now the top priority for you should be to contact any payment method that you have linked to your account and let them know what's happening.

After that please go to https://support.xbox.com/contact-us and start a chat. When you get linked to a person ask to be escalated to a Microsoft Advocate for your lost account
