Spitfire LMG... what's the point?

Every weapon in this game seems to be balanced and purposeful, except for the Spitfire LMG... ungainly and erratic for the first 2 seconds of use, making long distance or even medium range kills difficult if not impossible... once you have it in hose mode
it stabilizes, but by them you are probably already dead or your target has evaded you... why on earth didn't they include an attachment to calm this thing down from the first trigger pull, to make it actually effective? It's need for sustained fire and massively
loud report makes you a huge target on the mini-map... I know it's good for killing Titans in rodeo mode, but that is a very limited focus for a primary weapon... honestly it feels and acts more like a secondary...I would love future DLC to either repair this
broken weapon or add in another LMG that is more playable... be honest here... does anyone actually use the Spitfire as a primary weapon of choice?

I haven't noticed much of a change with the carbine since the update. It is definitely the best all around gun in the game. The SMG's are ok. I only used the spitfire LMG for challenges. Its decent with the slammer for taking down Titans, but that's about
it lol.

The one and only thing they should do is make the Spitfire LMG legit... as it is, it is a lame weapon, with it's poor accuracy until you've already blown 50 rounds downrange... make it like every other LMG in every other game, and it would be fun... slow
ADS, but accurate for the first 20 to 50 rounds, then out of control... as it is, at 10th Regen it is one of the weapons I will simply never use again...

 

I did when I had to, and once you get used to it, you'll do fine. I still finished out on top in plenty of rounds with it. I never did it, but what I saw other players doing, was to start firing even when your target isn't in your sights, and then really
aim once its leveled out. I saw plenty of pilots go down that way

 

I hated it until I had to use it then once I got the HCOG and the slammer I started doing really well. It is awesome for Titans and great for Pilots as well it just takes some time getting used to, try to stay somewhere that you have a lot of running away
options and never get on the top of a building your just a big target up there shooting a gun that loud. And the one rule I always follow is you never get more than 2 kills in one spot. You get 2, you move on, rinse and repeat because if you stand in one building
to long your gonna get your neck snapped

 

The Spitfire is not the best weapon, but once you get used to it it makes things a little bit easier. With the Spitfire straight after taking down a enemy I move, I don't stay in the same place after squeezing the trigger. It
took me little getting used to because I love my suppressors.

I get your point... But totally agree with Dazed & BHC... HCOG FTW, and if possible begin firing just before you want to get that pesky Carbine wielding pilot in your sights... It's not the best weapon, but imo it's not the worst... I for one greatly detested
having to do the "Smart" pistol challenge... Ugh...

 

If it werent so bad on the trigger pull, ive got some time with MGs irl (11B if anyone even knows what that is) and none get more accurate by holding the trigger, first round should hitt he target and get more inaccurate from there, you gotta control it,
i love supressors too, but if that beast actually worked like a lmg it would be all i ever used

 

Not my cup of tea either. It just doesn't seem to offer me anything I can't get with the AR's minus the rodeo power, And even then I'm a satchel tossing fool so I feel like I don't miss out on anything.

 

I hated it at first, but by the time I was half way through the challenges, I liked it. With the HCOG sight, it seems to aim faster than it does with any of the other sights, so then it's just the recoil that's a pain, but it's a powerful gun that holds
a ton of ammo, so without that bit of recoil when you first start firing it it would be too overpowered.

 

Here's a of me using the Spitfire LMG to great effect using a lot of the advice that people here have already mentioned.

 

Great tip about moving after 2 kills, Dazed. I have been doing this the past few days and notice myself with far fewer deaths each match. My PvP kill/death ratio is well over 2/1 over my last ten games.

 

another good thing about the LMG is that it can actually do decent damage on a titan, and i dont mean while rodeoing. I actually took down a few with the LMG instead of my Anti-titan rifle

 

I don't mind it but I use the carbine personally. Have to use it at the moment to get my gen 6 challenges though. Some players just like to act like Rambo and run around with those things.

 

I only used it for the brain surgeon challenge. Works pretty good with the slammer on titans. Other than that it serves no purpose for me since it's not very tactical running around spraying a loud machine gun.
