    Sound not working via Xbox Controller


    I have a pair of earbuds i am trying to use with my Xbox controller, but they do not seem to work.

    I can hear a subtle buzzing from the aux being connected, and voice chats work fine. Everything else is silent.

    I have tried updating my controller firmware and searching up online tutorials but none of them work.

    If anyone is able to help me with this issue, that would be great. Thank you.

    These earbuds have a 3.5mm jack connector? If yes, can you try using a different headset to see if the issue persist?

    Or if you have a different controller try using that controller with your earbuds

    I've conned my X1 to a Samsung sound bar via optical cable. Sounds works well, but no volume control.

    It sounds like your system is working correctly.

    The Xbox One system uses the Kinect as an IR blaster to control your TV and/or sound system, but as you've discovered, it is not an IR receiver, unfortunately. It is necessary to point the Xbox One media remote at the console.

    With this month's operating system update, dashboard navigation via motion control was removed completely. Voice control is still available. MS also apparently removed the ability to wirelessly sync controllers via the Kinect.

    It will not work as the device is not supported on the Xbox for one. The sound is all digital on the Xbox One and there is no support for sending the sound through USB. Sound signals are only transmitted through the HDMI port, optical port, and through
    the controllers via the headset adapter. If you find a converter for optical or HDMI to analog, those will probably work.

    Using Separate Mic's and Headphones

    When you plug in via the controller, I believe it redirects the chat audio out via that method which is probably why you are not getting chat sounds, but you mic will probably be working.

    Can you plug the headset in via the controller as well?
