    Hello everyone.

    I'm really at loss here.

    So I recently bought an Xbox 360 S to play old Xbox games that I cannot play on my other 2 Xbox's I own. I tried to attach my account I've owned for 6 years to the 360 S but no matter what it refused to connect.

    It said I had the wrong password, so I reset the password to be shorter and I turned off 2 step. It then had the “Sorry, there’s a problem with the credentials you’re using to sign in.” error. So I turned on 2 step and I used an app password, same error. I added myself to a family and again, to no avail. I tried literally everything I could think off and I check post after post on the official Microsoft Answers hoping if I've done something wrong but it still didn't work.

    I'm hoping someone here can help me because I have no clue as to why this isn't working, when one of my friends can sign in fine.

    Based on your description, it seems to be that you are unable to sign in to your Xbox 360 S. Let's work together to find the best solution to this problem.

    First of all, can you please provide us a photo or screenshot of the exact error message?

    To better assist you, I would recommend to try these troubleshooting steps below.

    Method 1: Restart your Console

    1. Press and hold the Xbox button  in the center of your Xbox controller to open the Power Center.
    2. Select Restart console.
    3. Select Restart.
    4. After the console has restarted, try to sign in again.
    Method 2: Remove and then re-add your account to the console.

    Step 1: Remove your account from the console

    1. Press the Xbox button  to open the guide.
    2. Select Profile & system > Settings > Account > Remove accounts.
    3. Select your account, and then confirm removal.
    4. Restart your console (see the steps in Solution 1).
    Step 2: Re-add your account to the console

    1. Press the Xbox button  to open the guide.
    2. Select Profile & system, and then Add or switch.
    3. Select Add new.
    4. Enter your Microsoft account email address and password.
    5. Complete the personalization settings on the next several screens.

    “Sorry, there’s a problem with the credentials you’re using to sign in.”

    One of two things could be causing this.

    Like the others have said it could be the password but what they have not said is that for the 360s including the emulators on the Ones the password box is limited to 16 characters so if your password is longer than 16 characters it will see it as a wrong
    password when trying to sign in.

    The second thing like the others have said is 2 factor authentication the 360s including the emulators do not play well with 2 factor authentication. You would either need to turn this off or use the app password.

    Not sure if y'all tried changing your profile / account password through xbox.com?

    I would first change your account password, and then go from there. If not I would go and contact xbox / microsoft support @
