    Son Screwed up his gamer tag - changed for free & tried to go back & can't.


    Just spent a bunch of time with support.. My son changed his gamer tag to something else as a joke, and tried to change it back.. Unfortunately a) he was charged $9.99 (his loss).. But b) his old gamer tag was >12 chars.. SO the new one is a shorter version and has #555 after it.. Tried to get the process reverted, but said to come here..

    It is not the first time the gamer tag was changed. It was my account tried to change it to my sons with his gamer tag not mine.

    Last time my Son changed his gamer tag it allowed him the first change for free. That was about 3 years ago now so maybe they have stopped that now. If you have never changed it before it might be worth asking the question about 1st change of gamer tag
    for free.

    Yeah hi, yes it was my one and only free gamer tag change, it has worked for my Microsoft xbox.com account and on my Xbox 360 so can't understand what a free gamer tag change is good for if it hasn't truely changed?

    Hiya!!

    Sorry to hear that you are going through this with the gamer tag. Unfortunately you are not the only one that is going through the 15 character to 12 character transfer for gamer tags. But, unless it causes a technical error within the XBOX software, it's
    doubtful that it wont be changed back anytime soon. It was obviously changed to 12 characters for a reason and anytime a gamer tag is set up, it's always a good idea to choose your gamer tag carefully, especially after you use up your 1 free change without
    the added charge.

    I dont want to change my gamer tag. What i'd like to do is set my son up with his own tag....so he can play with his own friends...under his own gamer tag. He plays under his tag..I play under my tag..Totally separate
