Son needs help transferring games from Xbox One to Series s

My son is having a couple of issues transferring Dying Light & Battlefield 2042 from Xbox One to Series S. Most of his existing library has successfuly migrated via network transfer, but with these 2 specific titles, although they've transferred & installed, the console is claiming he doesn't own them.

Is this a known issue with a workaround, or is there an ovbious step we've overlooked?

Were they disc based games?

There Series S has no optical Blu-Ray drive. If those games were installed from a disc then they can only be launched from a disc. Since the Series S has no such drive, you would need to purchase the digital version.

The same goes for any other game that was on disc.

Battlefield was disc, but dying light was digital. The message reads 'do you own this game or app, make sure you're signed in'

He is signed in, that's how he's managed to transfer most of his gam

Is it possible the game was purchased on a different account?

Hi,

Since the Series S has no optical drive you'll need to by the digital version of MCC from the Xbox Store to play in on the Series S.

You can transfer the already installed game across consoles either via a network transfer or external storage device, but you'll still need to buy the game again to play on the Series S. Transferring, copying or moving the game is often quicker than downloading the game from the Xbox Store.
