Someone purchased something off my nephews account. How can I prove that it wasn't done...

Since they are seeing a charge on their bank/credit card that they don't recognize, you can login to his Microsoft Account and view the
Order History. The date they were charged on their card will show the subscription if it was done through your sons account. You can also check yours
the same way.

Note: There isn't a way to prove where the transaction occurred to my knowledge.

Even if it was done on your sons Xbox, your nephew had to put it on the Xbox with his password. Then, his parents were the ones who gave him access to their credit card info by having it saved in their sons account. On top of all that, even if he did purchase
it - there is no benefit for him doing so as everything would be linked to his cousins account, not that Xbox.

In the end if I was in your position, I would be wondering why an adult gave credit card access to their child ...

Thanks for reaching out to us in the forums for this issue. If your nephew's account is on your son's Xbox console, does he have access to the password or passkey for entry to his cousin's account? If not, then he would have no way to access it to
make any purchases. Other than that, there is no concrete way to see what device was in use during any transaction, just the profile (account) that made the purchase.

You may wish to advise your nephew's parents that there are also parental control options available to stop any type of transaction being made without authorization on their child's account (assuming that he has a child type account rather than an adult
account). I recommend the support article entitled Prevent unauthorized purchases on Xbox One for a wealth of information pertaining to
keeping the account safe from purchasing issues in future.

If the account was indeed hacked then it would be best for them to use our

Compromised Account Solution to help to recover and increase the security of the account in future.

If someone has access to your account you should change the security info. Unfortunately you are responsible for anyone using the account so nothing could be done. It would also be hard to prove it wasn't you or that someone else didn't have access.

I wasn't aware that I could only make the purchase on the device the V-Bucks were intended. I made the purchase through Microsoft on my on computer (Mac) thinking I would get a voucher or code I could gift to my nephew. There was nothing on the purchase
page to tell my I couldn't purchase for someone else. It was a genuine mistake.
