Some PC Gamepass games can't launch

I actually fixed the problem, the installing file was wrong.

Welcome to the Xbox Community Forum. Thank you for sharing your concern with us today and we hope that all is well. We understand that some games do not launch from the Xbox App. Let us look into this together to get you back to gaming.



First, please make sure that your computer is completely updated - including all optional updates. Additionally, please confirm that your computer meets the minimum requirements necessary to run the games in question. We also recommend signing out of the Xbox App on your PC and back in to see if the issue is caused by an authentication error.



Next, please make sure that your graphics drivers are completely updated. How you do this will vary depending on what kind of graphics card you have installed on your PC. Please visit the manufacturer's website for your graphics drivers and download the most recent driver version that is available for your GPU model.

If the issue persists after updating your graphics drivers and computer, we recommend that you follow these steps.



Run games as Administrator

1. Right-click the icon on your Desktop for the game you want to play
   
2. Select Run as Administrator
   
3. See if the game launches
   

Uninstall and reinstall the games

1. Click the Windows icon in the bottom left corner of your screen and then select the Settings cog
   
2. Select the Apps tile
   
3. In the search bar, please type the title for the game(s) experiencing this issue
   
4. Select game tile and select Uninstall
   
5. Reinstall the game from the Xbox App
   
6. See if issue persists
   

If the issue persists after following the above suggestions, please take a look at the next suggested steps below.



Uninstall the Xbox app through App Settings

1. Open the Settings on your computer by pressing the Windows + I keys at the same time

2. Select Apps

3. In the search bar or by scrolling, search locate the Xbox App tile

4. Click the gray Uninstall box

Note: If you can't select the "Uninstall" box, choose Advanced Options and then Uninstall

1. Restart the computer
   

Note: If “Uninstall” is not available, use PowerShell to uninstall the Xbox app

1. Search for Windows PowerShell in the search bar in the lower-left corner of the screen

2. Right-click Windows PowerShell and select Run as Administrator

3. select Yes to allow it to make changes to your device

4. Type the following command, and then press Enter:

Get-AppxPackage *xboxapp* | Remove-AppxPackage

5. Let the command run and close PowerShell

6. Restart the computer



Install the Xbox app from the Microsoft Store

1. Open the Microsoft Store on your computer

2. In the search bar at the top of the app, search for Xbox

3. When the Xbox app page opens, select Install

Note: You may have the word "Get" instead of "Install." if you see it, select Get.



Reinstall the Gaming Services Package

1. Right-click the Start button in the lower-left corner of the main screen, and then select Windows PowerShell (Admin).

2. On the Windows PowerShell Administrator screen, type the following command, and then press Enter:

Get-AppxPackage *gamingservices* -allusers | remove-appxpackage -allusers

1. Restart your computer and see if the problem is resolved.
   

Update Xbox app on the PC

1. Open the Microsoft Store on your computer
   
2. Click Library in the bottom left corner of the app
   
3. Select Get Updates in the top right corner and download all updates
   

Resetting the Xbox app may also help

1. Press Windows + I to open Settings.
   
2. Click Applications > Applications and Features. Scroll down or search to find the Xbox app. Click on the app and choose Advanced Options.
   
3. Scroll down to click the Reset button under the Reset section. You can also select Repair.

No, They are not. I had GamePass PC earlier and everything used to work properly but then one day I got notification that there is an offer on GamePass Ultimate so I upgraded but since the day GamePass PC subscription ended and GamePass Ultimate subscription started, I can only launch games that are on EA Play and that too from EA Desktop App only.

Now, because the GamePass Ultimate was a 3 month subscription, so I can't even go back to GamePass PC until it's over.

Any game that launches from Xbox app for Windows fails to launch and tried repairing and resetting the Xbox and Microsoft Apps, sign-out and then again sign-in on both the apps but still same thing.

For Example, Forza Horizon 4 used to work earlier but now it does not.

you need gamepass pc then, so you can't,

Gold for online play on console

Gamepass for gamepass games on console

Gamepass PC for games on pc with ea play attached

Ultimate gamepass - Gold, Gamepass, Gampass PC, EA Play and xcloud.
