    I've seen this issue a couple of times while searching on the Internet, but there's no real solution to my problem:

    My XBox One controller for PC (wired using the USB cable that came with it) won't be recognized by Windows 10 anymore. Until a few weeks ago I've used Windows 7 still and my controller was always working fine. After upgrading to Windows 10 it stopped working.

    Troubleshooting the usual way (common suggested steps to solve the issue) don't apply because they involve trying to update drivers etc.

    I can't do any of that bc my controller doesn't even show up in the Device Manager, nor in the XBox Accessories app.

    I tried different USB cables, all USB ports on my computer, but to no avail. Upon plugging it, it vibrates briefly, then nothing. Usually (when it was working on Windows 7) it kept vibrating for an extended period and the XBox-Button in the middle lit up,
    indicating an active and working controller. Now the light remains off. Also no "device plugged in" sound is played.

    The controller itself and the cable isn't broken because it works on another machine, so I assume it's an issue with Windows.

    EDIT: Using an Xbox 360 controller works flawlessly. Just not the XB One controller.

    EDIT 2: I have no idea why, but the controller is now working normal again. Might be the mix of removing the controller from the Device Manager first, and then using an Xbox 360 controller. Maybe this reinstalled the necessary drivers, I really have no clue.

    Awesome! Glad it's working now! I've seen a number of posts very similar to this one, but haven't found a common answer that solves it.

    Do you have a console that you could hook it up to and see if it pairs successfully with the Xbox Accessories app to check if there is a firmware update for your controller there?

    when you plug it in with the usb cable, try taking the batteries out before plugging it in and then plug into your computer and see if it then gets detected?

    As I've already said, I tried a different cable to no avail. Also I highly doubt that either controller or cable is the issue, since I tested both on another machine, on which it worked perfectly.
