    Like many of you, I was frustrated with the dreaded “Join Failed Because You Are on a Different Version” error in Black Ops 6 (BO6). After hours of testing and checking community discussions, I compiled all the working fixes in one place. If you're stuck, here’s what worked for me and many others:

    ✅ Step-by-Step Fixes:

    1️⃣ Update BO6 & Restart the Game

    • Exit BO6 completely and check for updates in your game launcher (Battle.net, Steam, PlayStation, or Xbox Store).
    • Install any available updates, then restart your console or PC.
    2️⃣ Restart CoD HQ & BO6

    • Close both BO6 and COD HQ completely.
    • Relaunch COD HQ, then start BO6 again.
    3️⃣ Verify Game Files (PC Players)

    • Steam Users: Go to Steam > BO6 > Properties > Verify Integrity of Game Files.
    • Battle.net Users: Open Battle.net, click BO6 > Scan and Repair.
    4️⃣ Reinstall Shaders

    • Navigate to BO6 Graphics Settings > Reinstall Shaders.
    • Restart the game once the process completes.
    5️⃣ Try Joining a Recent Player’s Lobby First

    • Join a recent player’s lobby, then leave and try joining your friend again.
    • Many players found this bypasses the error.

    Thank you for posting on the Xbox forums.

    To clarify, are you on Minecraft (Xbox One) or Minecraft Windows 10 edition? This is important because they are both different versions.

    Can you join official servers without issue?

    Besides "unable to join world" what else does the error say?

    Are both of you on the same version? You can confirm with the version number on the home screen of Minecraft.

    Please answer those questions for us so we can provide better assistance.

    Are you getting an "outdated world" error? You or someone who is trying to join may also be running the beta version of Minecraft available through the Xbox Insider Program app. If that is the case, de-enroll so everyone is on the vanilla client then see
    if anyone can join. Sometimes, even just a failed to join error may have that as its root problem.

    Also, there could be service outages on either Xbox or with your internet provider. Some disruptions may interfere with joining/hosting capabilities.

    Thank you for the suggestion but I don't see "online play with friend's".

    Like I said in the title i'm in version 1.12.0 and that might mean you or I am in a different version, or a wrong one.

    I see something like that when i'm creating a world but it only says "allow friend's of friend's to join". My friend's on Xbox have no problem

    joining me but I only have trouble joining them.

    But I do appreciate the response and for you trying to help me solve my problem!
