    So I'm pretty sure I was lied to about new controllers and old adapters


    The bumper on my old 360 controller is starting to give out. Started looking into a new controller. Thought I'd look into the new xbox controller. You can get the controller bundled with a wireless PC adapter, or without one. I already had one for my 360 controller, so I go on microsoft's support site to find out if the 360 adapter will work. The official Microsoft support points me towards the Xbox Gamers, and more specifically, Jamie. Jamie tells me that a 360 adapter will work with a new series X/S controller. Sort of. Here's his exact words. https://i.imgur.com/biQNzOr.png So I buy the controller without the adapter. Now the controller is on my desk and it doesn't work with this adapter. So I guess the question here was did I just get ****? Or am I missing something? Looking into it a bit further, from what I can tell he was talking out of his **** when he said the 360 adapter used bluetooth, but then again that was just one forum post I found ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ if I'm the wrong one here please call me out. I just want a working controller

    I've tried talking to an actual representative from Microsoft but no such luck.

    Also if you know any good places to get replacement parts for 360 controllers feel free to share

    New 3.5mm jack controller is pointless!

    Old controller required the stereo headset adapter to work with my headset. ( was a friends stereo headset adapter) so I thought i'd buy the new type of controller so as to not also buy the stereo headset adapter.

    The new controller differences

    3.5mm jack which is pointless

    and the bumpers feel slightly different, but that just may be because i'm now used to worn bumpers on my old controller.

    Issues Updating Controller with Turtle Beach X07 Headset

    So I ordered a new Headset Adapter for my X07 and when I plugged it into the controller it asked to perform an update. This update worked without any problems.

    So this tells me the headset adapter was having issues. Not really exactly sure what it was.

    Audio would still pass via the bad headset adapter but my controller would always ask to update when I plugged it in. This would happen even if I updated without the adapter connected.

    So a new one fixed it. I should probably contact Microsoft about replacing my old one. Or see if Gamestop would take it for a trade in and get probably $3 of my $25 I spent on the new adapter.

    Hey there roundtoit1,

    I know the type of connector that you are talking about as I have used this type of controller in the past.

    The controller should come with an adapter for the Console. It will basically be short piece of cable with the USB connection on one side and the circular connector on the other end for the controller. I'm not sure what the exact name for this connection
    is but I can find it by searching "breakaway USB cable adapter". I'm pretty sure you would be able to find the part through sites like Amazon or ebay.

    My Xbox One Controller wont Update, i am currently at firmware version 2.3.2381.0 and want to update to 2.3.2385.0 and i cannot used my headset adapter. When i try to update it says no update available.

    Yes, i have tried hard resett the console but still no luck. Also the controller is the old version (no 3.5mm port) but I'm not sure if the adapter is compatible with the old version or only with the newer versions of the controller.
