SMS to Landline - 2 factor account

Good to know that you can receive other SMS messages. I don't what country you are in however it should be noted that sometimes a cellphone etc may not accept or be usable for international SMS senders (eg systems in the US, that may be why my FONGO VOIP
in Canada doesn't work for Twitter SMS from US).

If you still can't get an SMS from the Microsoft system then you should login to your Microsoft account and set alternative contact options (eg email address or call landline number with voice option).

I have already spoken with all forms of support calls and text support chat, exhausted all options. I obviously do not know any associated emails, cause thats the first thing anyone ever suggests.

The only option I have left is to somehow be able to get a short code message for a landline. The only option I found out is that landline texting can only receive SMS but not short code message verifications.

I really understand your situation. I have seen several users losting accounts for hackers. I can only suggest you in the future to setup two factor authentication on your account - preferably a phone number to receive SMS or an authentication app. This decreases your chances of being hacked to almost zero.

What I’m asking is why can’t we recover our accounts with a landline phone? Like I said, I created the account when landline phones were still very common so why take away that ability?

For me, I disabled the 2 factor security on my account via my laptop, then was able to agree to terms of service as the parent, just using my single factor ID/Password. I think the xbox console could not deal with this 2 factor in the terms of service parent's
agreement. Yes, this absolutely sucks, Microsoft!
