Small Issue With Razer Turret K&M With Latest Insider Update

Hey team, I noticed a small issue with my Razer Turret Keyboard today. It’s a product I haven’t been using as of late, and it’s likely it could have been a bug from a previous insider update, but the “Xbox Key” or known as the “Nexus Key” on the Razer Turret is no longer working as it should. There is no light on the key anymore, nor is their any input response. This key is supposed to bring up the Xbox Guide/Menu on the Razer Turret Keyboard, however it is no longer working on the insider builds anymore.

I saw a few other threads on the insider forums about this issue, and reported the bug through the console. I am playing on an Xbox Series X as well, not sure if this is the case on the base consoles.

It is not the Keyboard being faulty or “broken”, or due to faulty firmware from Razers’s side of things, as reverting the Xbox Series X’s firmware back to the normal (non-insider) build and leaving the Insider Program, the Xbox/Nexus key works normally as it should without issues. Maybe when they updated the edge browser to support K&M it broke something with the Razer Turrets keybinds.

You can always use the “windows” button on the keyboard to open the guide instead of the specifically designed Xbox button, and the button is more for aesthetics than anything else, as well as only having the button on the keyboard due to it being officially licensed, but I hope that Microsoft can fix this small issue with the Razer Turret.

Also, while unrelated to the current issue, I’d love to see larger support for Keyboard and Mouse from Microsoft and it’s official Studios. Adding Cursor support to the Edge browser has been such a welcome change, to the point I am now using the Xbox to surf the web over my crappy old Microsoft Surface. Adding cursor support to the main menu of the console would be the next logical step, that would be a great quality of life addition to Keyboard and Mouse users like myself.

When it comes to game support, the support from Microsoft Game Studios has been lacklustre. Games like The Outer Worlds, the Keyboard works as it should, however the devs forgot to implement mouse support into the game. Same thing goes with the Halo Infinite (Insider) build, mouse support was not working whatsoever, and not just on the Razer Turret, any connected mouse. The Halo Insider is a bit more understandable since it’s a beta, but it shouldn’t be too hard to copy the Keyboard and Mouse settings from PC and transfer those bindings/controls over from the PC port. With Flight Simulator 2020, the game does not support TenKeyLess (TKL) Keyboards, or Keyboards without the Numpad, without heavy an extensive rebinding.

The Razer Turret is a TKL Keyboard, and your always going to be missing aircraft features even after the rebinding due to the missing keys. Kind of a joke if you ask me, on what’s supposed to be the Official Keyboard and Mouse combo on the Xbox consoles. Again, just seems like a major oversight by many of these Developers for Xbox, and Microsoft and it’s Official game studios and partners need to be doing a better job with the Keyboard and Mouse support. If your going to add support into your game, you have to support it without issues, I would rather have less games without Keyboard and Mouse but with full support, over a bunch of games with the support for K&M, however have really bad implementation.

Hope Microsoft and the Insider Team can fix the small issue with the Razer Turret in a future update, however I hope they also take K&M more seriously and offer better support across the Xbox console and their own games they develop.
