Slow/Can't Download Updates/Games from Xbox Store

First a little info...

Location: Southern central Georgia, US

Internet setup: Satellite (15Mbps DL, 4Mbps UL)

Current attitude: Frustrated and sad

Now, my issue...

Bought a game last week, can't download it. Can't download game updates or DLCs either.

My XB1 tries to, but the download speed is less than 500 kbps. Can't expect anything to download in a normal amount of time with speeds like that.

I've checked my internet and my home network, all is fine. Even had my ISP send someone out to check. There's nothing wrong on my end.

I watch videos, download from other sources, chat online, share pics... Everything is fine, except for Xbox store downloads.

Guessing it's because of the Covid-19 quarantine and everybody in my area playing CoD or whatever on XBL. They're all hogging the servers and I can't even get in a download queue.

I don't play online games, never had any interest, but I do spend money on my xbox experience. I expect the service to be available when I wish to use it.

Is anything being done to improve the situation while this quarantine lasts? Can I expect my download ability to return any time soon?

Looking for a bit of hope here, in this lonely and depressing time we're all stuck in. : (

Yes there are slow download speeds at the moment due to demand. I think I am right in saying Microsoft has slowed down a lot of its services in order to maintain overall service during this busy period online services are currently facing. I know one example
of this is you cannot currently upload custom profile pictures.

Slowed it to near non-existence for me then. :\

I mean... the setup I have for internet is slower than the standard, I know that, but it's the best option we can afford where we live, and I can get stuff done with it, usually. With this slow down though, if that's what it is, now it's almost useless.
For anything involving the Xbox store anyway.

Seems like they should've went the opposite direction, if you asked me. With the increased traffic now, instead of throttling connections, speed it up for everyone. That way folks like me that just want to download a game or an update can get it done quicker
and get out of the way. As soon as I'm done with that stuff, I go offline anyway.

Maybe they could activate or install additional regional servers to handle the extra stress too. The way folks are talking, this quarantine isn't going to end any time soon. Might as well take the opportunity to improve their infrastructure. We all know
Microsoft can afford to do that.

Please I can't seem to download the gears of war 4 from the Xbox store. It says the game is installed though but needs to be updated. The update is around 54 GB. I want to know if this update size is the game itself because I can't see anywhere it says I
can download the game

Hi Corn, out of curiosity are you experiencing really slow (like 1mbs) downloads from the store or updates yet it speed tests correctly?

Hi, from what I see you can't pause the downloads from the app itself. However if you open the Microsoft Store app and look in Downloads and updates you should be able to pause game/app updates from there.
