    Slim 360 4gig Console will not update but need update to get on Live!


    Right before 12/25 the console stated that an update was needed. Allowed it to update, it appeared to get stuck. After waiting for many hours, we restarted the console. Since then it states it needs an update before it can get onto Xbox LIVE. We tell
    it to update, it updates, reboots, then tells us again needs to update for Xbox LIVE. I cleared the system cache, added a usb drive for more storage, tried to update by USB and DVD. Still it continues to try and update. Before adding the USB drive for storage
    I was getting this error code: 40A3-0000-3000-0800-D000-0185. Found information about D000-185 messages being an issue with the storage. Has my 4 gig gone bad and I need to add a Hard Drive(HD)? Would adding a HD be different then adding a USB stick in
    this case? Any help is appreciated.

    Xbox Update Via USB problems

    I don't think you can install the update over Live directly to a USB. You need an HDD or the Flash Memory the Xbox Slim 4gig systems come with. You can however copy the update from your computer to a USB and then to you xbox. Instructions can be found

    Can't download update?!

    It's a system update for the 360 on a slim console. The message has to do with the update not completing, and it says to sign into xbox live a system update is required.

    I have a netgear router, and have hughes net modem. This computer is the one wired to the router/modem.
