Discus and support Skype needs to turn on the kinect mic when i launch the app and turn off the mic when i turn ... in XBoX Games and Apps to solve the problem; I do not want my kinect mic on all the time, only when I am using skype.     I do not want my kinect mic on all the time, only when I am using skype. Am I missing the option to have skype turn it on and off, or is this another thing that isn't integrated that well. I would really appreciate this so i don't have to keep diving into
    the kinect menu on a daily basis.

    I agree. I had opposite experience tonight where I couldn't hear my family over Skype because I have the Kinect mic turned off for chat. There should be an option to have the Kinect mic be used when on Skype and not anywhere else. Having the Kinect mic
    either on or off shouldn't be a global setting. The way it works now, since I don't want to use the Kinect for game chat, I'll have to turn it off each time or make sure it's turned on before I go on trips so I can hear my family speaking over Skype.

    Xbox kinect issue: Mic Icon is always showing

    if you turn the sensor off by going into the kinect settings on the dashboard, it should stop displaying the mic. But if you only turn the kinect mic off, it will still display the mic symbol in the game. As i have one but i just turn the kinect sensor off
    and it turns the mic totally off

    Currently there is no option to do so.

    Microsoft has also not stated anything regarded the matter, but I would assume that they are aware of it.

    I'm pretty sure the Kinect mic turns off automatically when you plug a mic into your controller but have you tried making sure the kinect mic is turned off? Or have you tried using the kinect as the mic or just having it unplugged while you do it? I haven't
    run into this issue so I'm not really sure what could be causing it.
