    Sky HD STB Does not Power On/Off


    Hi,

    i have my Sky HD box connected to my Xbox One, and the channel changing/other controls works fine, the only thing that it doesn't seem to do is turn the Sky HD box on or off when turning the xbox on/off.

    This is slightly annoying when turning on, as it turns the TV on fine, but then will show the "No Connection" screen until i use the Sky HD remote to turn the STB on.

    Is this normal?

    50Hz TV not fixed in UK

    I have seen quite a few reports that it does work with the Sky HD box. Given the number of positive reviews thus far, I must go with 'normal' troubleshooting (sorry to advise).

    What version of HDMI cables are you using?

    What is the output of the STB (Sky TV box) (1080p, 720p,1080i)?

    High or low power setting?

    Surround sound enabled?

    How does TV work with voice.

    You can control your Set Top Box (STB) if it supports HDMI-CEC. You maybe able to control your TV, but again it needs to support HDMI-CEC.

    -

    Some STBs do not feature HDMI-CEC protocol (e.g. Sky HD STB), which means it can't be controlled via Xbox One. You need a Sky remote.

    No, 1080p is fine, but most STBs don't output 1080p at all. They do 1080i, which isn't really any better than 720p and is interlaced.

    We've used Sky Boxes and gotten an OK signal before, but this may just be an issue with 50->60hz conversion (also called bonking).

    You can try hard power cycling the Sky box with live TV running by pulling the STB power cord.

    Experiencing exactly the same issue (Virgin Media Samsung STB > Xbox One > Panasonic Plasma HDTV). Attempted all suggested resolutions (High Speed HDMI cable swap & 720p STB output). Power cycling will temporarily resolve, but frame rate freeze / stutter
    / no signal returns after Xbox Off / On command. This MUST(?) surely be related to lack of support for 50hz > 60hz output conversion for broadcast TV & STBs signals outside North America & Japan. Useful for MS to confirm that this is the case & will be addressed
    through a firmware patch or TV app update ASAP. This clearly the common theme from all the forums with users various (Virgin HD / Tivo / Sky etc) setups experiencing the same passthrough problems.
