skins showing as steve or other minecraft skins (minecraft v1.20.0 bedrock)

just updated the game to v1.20.1 so hopefully that’s it fixed! thanks for the link though i’ll use that if the bug still isn’t fixed

I agree with what you have said. I also searched from an old Minecraft forum and it has been an issue before as well.

It seems this might be an in-game bug on cases like this, it is much better to contact Minecraft Support on their page https://help.minecraft.net/hc/en-us to report the issue and to know any possible ongoing problems or bugs in the game.

As a fellow gamer, I understand how it feels since I also play Minecraft and its annoying to see those skins everywhere even though you have skin applied to your account already. I would suggest to report it to the developer itself, my apologies! As we are just fellow members here in the community and we don't have tools to check in-game issues what we can only do are basic troubleshooting such as restarting game, reinstalling but if the issue is in the game itself it would be best to file a report.

I hope the information helps somehow on how to proceed. Feel free to post back if you need more help and we will try with the best of our knowledge to assist.

Yes when I try to change my skin in Minecraft Java my skin is stuck on the Alex skin but the same skin works for the Bedrock Edition of Minecraft . And I have tried using another skin but that too did not work .

To set your expectations properly, the McDonald's Minecraft skin cannot be used in the Java Edition of the game because the McDonald's skin promotion is exclusively for the Bedrock Edition of Minecraft.

You will need to use the Minecraft: Bedrock Edition to access and equip the McDonald's skin.

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Xbox Community. I understand that you're having issues changing the skin of your character in Minecraft. If Minecraft doesn't recognize your skin, then go to the main Minecraft Settings page, find the General tab, and make sure "Only Allow Trusted Skins" is toggled off.

Here is how to equip new items to your character in the dressing room.

Note: The Dressing Room is exclusive to Minecraft: Bedrock Edition.

How to use the Dressing Room in Minecraft

Character creator items

If you are looking to add character creator items to your Minecraft character, follow these steps:

Start Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. 

Select Dressing Room. 

Select the character slot you want to edit or a new one. 

Select Edit Character. 

Open the Body or Style tab. 

Find the item in the proper section. 

Click Equip.

How to equip classic skins in Minecraft: Bedrock Edition

If you instead want to use a classic skin from something you purchased in the Marketplace, do the following:

Start Minecraft: Bedrock Edition.

Select Dressing Room.

Select the character slot you want to change the skin of or a new one.

Select Edit Character.

Select Classic Skins on the left bar.

Browse through and select the skin you want to use.

Click Equip.

Note: Classic skins cannot be customized with character creator items.

If you're still experiencing issues, go into the game settings, log out of your Minecraft account, and then log back in to resync your account.
