    Single Blu-ray disc won't play in xbox one s


    My copy of Taken refuses to play in my xbox one s. It does however play in a normal blu-ray player (as I found upon attempting to return it to my embarrassment). Upon inserting the disc and starting the blu-ray app the screen goes black and does nothing.
    This only happens with this one disc, and the regions are the same. Does anyone have a very particular set of skills to help with this issue?

    Hi,

    All Xbox One games are region free. DVD's and Blu-ray discs are still subject to regional restrictions. Which means unless a particular DVD or Blu-ray disc is region free (0/All), it won't play on your console. UHD Blu-ray discs are all region free.

    No, right now you can't attach and use any external DVD/Blu-ray Player.

    The Xbox One S have a Internal DVD/Blu-ray Player. If you have the Xbox One S All Digital you won't have a option ti use Disc only digital media.

    No Blu-Ray is a different disc reading to the standard DVD basis. Many companys have the legal right of using it like Sony. But Microsoft isn't one of them so I'm sorry it won't play Blu-Ray DVDs. They require a Blu-Ray Disc Driver.

    Hi,

    Can you check if your console can read DVD discs please? To do this just insert a DVD movie disc. If it works, the console will load the Blu-ray Player app (make sure this this downloaded from the Xbox Store).

    Note that the disc you try must be a DVD not an Xbox One or a Blu-ray movie disc.

    If your console won't start the DVD movie disc then this indicates a fault with your Xbox One Blu-ray drive. These drives contain two lasers, one for DVD's and one for Blu-ray discs. Xbox One disc games are on Blu-ray, Xbox 360 games are DVD's.
