Signed up for half price gold for one month but been charged full price

there is no promotion like that

You usually will get 1month or 1year promotion but it is during that period are you billed the discounted pricesand renewal would be full price

Live is 7.99 a month min depending on region

there is nothing to stop them but I would never pay full price (maybe half price) for just 1 month of gold.

though i guess for some people a singular month (though its cheaper to go multimonth) is worth it to do that

My question is, if Amazon and other places can offer a Gold subscription for close to half the price, why does Microsoft charge full price in the first place? Why don't many people find this funny? People should start to ask, if I can buy it somewhere else
for half price, how can Microsoft continue to justify the high price equals more security, better servers, etc,. when it clearly shows that they can continue with what they do for half the price? Just wondering.

If you check the fineprint (there's always fineprint) it is the full price all at once. The $5/month shows a comparison price. It WILL charge the full price at once.
