Sign in problems - cannot add user

Solved by myself!

Turns out this is an issue with my ISP and pressumably a port issue when talking to microsoft.

No matter what account, what xbox device in the house, if I remove users I cannot add them back. The start of the process where you give your email address is just not presented.

I set up a laptop with my VPN and shared it, then connecting to it via wired cable to my xbox.

As soon as I was on VPN, I tried signing in and the box presented fine and I added my account.

Once done, I reconnected to my normal internet connection and everything works fine. The issue is solely my connection not allowing initial account entry.

Thanks for reaching out to the Forums for advice on how to hopefully get your console back to operating as intended. I can totally understand how this could be pretty distressing a situation for anyone but hopefully we can figure it out. I suggest either
trying after connecting to another network, or after trying an
offline update of the console as it could be a problem with the console getting information from Xbox Live itself.

When/if you get the chance, give those steps a shot and let us know if that helped.

What issue are you facing exactly?

Are you able to sign in on the Xbox website?

Do you get an error message when you sign in on your console?

After making that post, i tried resetting my wireless router again. I tried connecting to wireless (since i was using a wired connection) still no luck. But then i plugged the wired connection back in and it started working again! I downloaded some games,
played last night and then today when logging in i am back at square one (error code 0x800704cf). it tells me i am not connected to the internet but when i run the network diagnostics it tells me everything is fine (although double NAT detected).

What issue are you facing exactly?

Are you able to sign in on the Xbox website?

Do you get an error message when you sign in on your console?
