Shut Down Deceased's account

Hi, my deepest condolences to you, I have the same problem, I want to access the console, but it refers me back to family settings password, I have tried numerous ways, even have the reset code, but I can't seem to reset it, I tried to contact support,
but to no avail, imm at my wits end here, I need help asap

Hi there, first of all sorry for your loss, its never easy losing someone and i imagine someone so close must be harder to grasp, i hope you are well and are being looked after by family,friends and loved ones.

In relation to your question, as far as i am aware to completely close the account you would have to at least be able to sign into the account for data protection and security purposes, which you would be able to follow the below steps

1. Sign in at Xbox.com. (Once again, this is usually the same login information as a Microsoft Windows account.)

2. Click “Security and Password.” Verify that you have authority over the account by receiving and entering a security code.

3. Scroll down and select “Close your account.”

4. When you’re prompted, confirm that you have read each of the impact statements that detail what you need to know about closing your account.

5. Click “Mark account for closure.”

After 60 days, the account will be permanently removed, during which time the account can be reactivated by signing back in. Once 60 days have passed, access to all services that require the associated Microsoft
account email address and password, including downloaded content, games and applications will be lost.

However if you are unsure of the password, there may be another way around it, you wont be closing the account as such, but removing all the details from the console so its basically a fresh box for someone
else to use .

1. While the console is on, press the home button on the controller.

2. Select the Settings menu via the gear-shaped icon.

3. Click through the System link and then go to Console Info.

4. Select Reset Console.

5. Click Reset and Remove Everything.
