should traffic in be allowed for xbox 360 in modem firewall settings?

Hi, my name is Marvina and I will be happy to help you.

I'm sorry you have this problem. Follow the instructions below for a solution.

Basic troubleshooting

Note Before you reset your Xbox 360 console's network settings, be sure to write down your current settings in case you need to restore them later. If you are using a secured wireless network, you will need the wireless network password.

Press the Guide button  on the controller, select Settings, and choose System Settings.
Select Network Settings.
Select Wired network.
Select Set up network.

On the Additional Settings tab, select Factory Reset. When prompted, select Yes, restore factory settings. This resets only the console's network settings.

Restart the console.
Test your network connection again (Settings > System Settings > Network Settings > Wired Network > Test Xbox Live Connection).
If this solution works, your console will connect to Xbox Live. If the connection test is unsuccessful, continue to the next step.
To perform a power off/on reset, follow these steps:

Unplug the power cord from the back of the router, modem, or gateway for 5 minutes. If you have a router and a modem, unplug the power cord from both devices.
Restart the Xbox 360 console.

After 5 minutes, first plug in the modem or gateway and wait for all the lights to return to normal.
If you are using a router, plug it in and wait for all the lights to return to normal.

Test your Xbox Live connection again (Settings > System Settings > Network Settings > Wired Network > Test Xbox Live Connection).
If this solution works, your console will connect to Xbox Live. If the connection test is unsuccessful, continue to the next step.

I hope I can help you solve it.

XBOX LIVE ON XBOX ONE MULTIPLAYER ISSUE WITH COMCAST ROUTER

Setting up port forwarding or the DMZ is for specific ports. The firewall is for generic traffic. If the the firewall is seeing the traffic as harmful in any way it's going to deny those packets from being properly sent and/or received. If the firewall is
set to low it should still protect against the most common forms of attacks, however the firewall on a gateway/router isn't specifically designed to protect against malware or viruses. The firewall built into windows, or a software firewall of your own choosing,
will do that job.

Firewall on router? - Quick question!
Should I have a firewall enabled on my router? Does this affect my Xbox live?
This is my personal point of view from the perspective of a network engineer.

For your private home network I recommend turning the Firewall OFF, but let me explain what the purpose of a Firewall is and why your router is still a Firewall with the function disabled.

Most people think of Firewalls like Anti-Virus programs, in a way that the Firewall detects "evil" network traffic and blocks it, protecting your network. This is
NOT the case!

If you read my NAT post linked below, I explain that incoming data from the Internet into your network will
NOT pass into your network, unless you specifically configured portforwarding rules or UPnP, or the incoming traffic was specifically
requested by a device inside your home network (e.g. by a PC wanting to download a website).

So if you have UPnP turned off on your router and no manual portforwarding configured, your Router will drop/block all incoming data packets, that aren't specifically requested by your PC. Basically this is what most non-computer-tech people expect from a Firewall.

But if you want to play Multiplayer Games, you need to allow traffic into your network. And by using UPnP or maual port forwarding, you
only allow specific traffic (for example Xbox Live Mulitplayer traffic) into the network and
only to the Xbox console and nothing else. And you want to play with
all people around the world.

So you allow Xbox Live data into your network, and the router will still drop all other unrequested traffic even with the Firewall turned off.

So what is the purpose of a firewall then?

Let's say you have a webserver running in your home network, but you ONLY want to allow access to that server from your work office. In that case you would set up port forwarding to your webserver in the router (basically allowing everyone access), and then
configure the Firewall to only allow traffic to that webserver port from a very specific IP address (in this case your workplace).

And to come back to the impression that Firewalls protect your network from "malicious" traffic: Most firewalls in consumer routers are only simple firewalls, not intrusion prevention devices. So if your work PC gets infected by malware, and it is allowed to
connect to your Homeserver (you granted that permission in the Firewall in the previous paragraphs), the Firewall will still allow the infected PC access to your server.

So, in your scenario: You want to grant the whole Xbox playing world access to your Xbox Multiplayer matches. And by setting up your router to have an open NAT, you have done that, without the need for a Firewall. On the contrary: Some Firewalls in consumer
routers make Multiplayer Matchmaking more difficult if enabled.

In conclusion: Rest assured that your network is fine and in fact better with the Firewall turned off.

Cannot get a Teredo IP Address

Oops, it is actually just one setting there--in any case, set it to "Low." The manual is not clear, but it appears that setting up a port forward does does automatically allow traffic through the firewall and that must be done separately (this would be unusual
for a home router/gateway). If so, then setting it to "low" (in conjunction with port forwards) should work.

Xbox live. Подключение к серверу: заблокировано [Xbox Live. Connection to server: Blocked]

Hello Nurk33RUS,

Thank you for keeping us updated. All outbound traffic coming from
IPv6 hosts
on your LAN is allowed, as well as related inbound traffic. Any other inbound traffic must be specifically allowed
in the router settings. The article we provided contains an image of where to allow the inbound traffic from Xbox Live. Is your IPv6 firewall enabled or disabled? Be sure to let us know the results!
