Should I use the Parent or Child’s account for Minecraft Realms initial subscription?

I would like to sign-up my family for Minecraft Realms. I have a parent account and 2 child accounts appropriately created. To ensure my son can manage the Realms, do I need to buy the realms subscription from his account? Or can I buy it from my parental
account, and he will also have owner access to create realms, have access to packs, etc? What is the best way to set things up from the beginning?

    :)

    Hi

    Thank you for reaching out.

It is better to purchase the REALM subscription from your son's account. You will need to require permission to buy though, since his account is set as child. You can do that following the steps here.

Also, so he can play online he must change
    privacy settings
in his account, you must do that from the Parent account.

Trying to set up Realms for my daughter, but stuck at error message "You need an adult to buy this - We can't send a request for this one, so you'll have to ask them another way."

    Hi Jay-AsherMorgan.

My name is Mauro and am glad to assist you. We are sorry for this incident.

Am sharing a previous post about this incident:

Because Realms is a subscription, it cannot ask directly for a purchase. As XboxIsBetterThanPlayStation mentioned, you will need to ask your parent to go to https://account.microsoft.com/family to make changes. Have your parent then:

    Click on your profile

    Click on Spending

In the spending page, under the Payment methods > Credit cards have them toggle Require approval for every purchase off. Additionally, they can add funds to your account in order to make purchases. Otherwise, when you go to purchase the realm it will ask you to confirm your payment and add a Credit/Debit card, PayPal, or redeem a gift card.

If your parent wants to make sure you can't purchase additional things on your own, be sure to enable Require Approval for Every Purchase again once you've made the purchase.

As your account is a child account, only parent accounts can modify settings.

You can learn more about parental consent and managing settings for Minecraft through Mojang's support page: How to Manage Parental Consent, Family Settings and Realms/Multiplayer Access for a Child Account – Home (minecraft.net)

Initial subscription to Minecraft Realms on a child account

    Hello,

In response to your first question, you are right, it would link it to that account and you would not be able to link it to your own world

For your second question, I have a Minecraft Realms as well, and I am on a child account, but to have recurring billing so you can have the Realm you have to do this

    • Find the family member's name and select Spending.
    • Under Ask to buy, switch Needs organizer approval to buy things to On.
And for your last question, I'm not sure how to do it.

I hope that this helped :)

Can't validate Friend requests in XBox app from child account

    Hello Pascal Paulis,

    You're welcome!

I was wondering if that prompt will show if you have allowed your child to send a request. Have you tried selecting the request approval button? Then, checked your email regarding the request?

We'll check this with the Internal Support Team to see if this this request can found be elsewhere.
