Should I upgrade to Xbox Music from Zune?

I'm very attached to Zune Software, and I've been using it for years. I'm wondering what's different about Xbox Music.

What new features are there? (There's Spotify-esque music streaming, right?)

I've also heard that it may not:

bring over the music file album cover JPG if it was a custom JPG (VERY important to me)

Show you what songs are downloading when they are downloading

So in short, if there's handy music streaming and a light-text-on-dark theme, I'll probably switch. But if there's no option to keep my custom song titles, album art, etc... no thanks.

If it still works keep it going. The next gen will be out near the holiday time,save your money for that...

I myself am keeping my fingers crossed cause iam still playing on the release model lol..Sent it in 3x yrs ago for rrod.But its still going strong..

Can you wait until the media announcement in May? If the news is good, can you wait until the holiday season
2013 for whatever is announced to become available?

Adding an old style HDD to a console with no HDMI port is throwing good money after bad. I'd either go 250GB/320GB console or wait.

You can try out the Xbox Music app on your device without causing any issues. Your Zune account is also an Xbox Music account.

In an e-mail Microsoft sent out on 8/29/2012 concerning upcoming changes to the Zune Music service, they said (check the last paragraph):

"Dear xxxx:

As we prepare for the exciting launch of Xbox Music later this fall, we want to make you aware of some pending changes to the Zune Music service that will be made on August 31st.

Specifically, the following features will no longer be available:

•Sending and receiving messages, inviting friends, sharing the songs, playlists, and albums you are listening to, and viewing past play history

•Mixview playback and channel playlists

•Apps for Zune HD

•Purchasing music videos or streaming them as a part of Zune Music Pass from the Zune PC software

•Re-downloading, re-activating, or re-licensing previously purchased music videos if / when you upgrade your PC

These changes will NOT affect music streaming or downloading as part of Zune Music Pass, impact songs that you have purchased from Zune Marketplace, or change your ability to stream music videos on Xbox 360."

So it appears that we should be able to continue streaming music to our Zune devices and the Zune software. So what gives, Microsoft?

Ahhh, thank you, that was more or less the confirmation I was hoping for... So essentially all the money I used to buy Zune music is wasted on the Xbox. And once upgraded, I don't think Zune works on the latest release on Xbox anymore but haven't monkeyed
with it much. So I have to buy a subscription to stream music I already own...

Hey LCTDeuce, I'm afraid there is no way to merge two Microsoft Accounts. You should be able to sign into the Xbox Music client using your current Zune pass and play music from there or sign into Zune while signed into your W8 account though!
