Shadow warrior 1 won't launch (bought it with the bundle Shadow Warrior 1 & 2)

Hi there !

My gamertag is playing on black 1To xbox one.

I have a problem with the digital download Shadow warrior 1 (I bought it with the Shadow warrior 2 bundle).

Each time I try to launch the game, I'm asked to choose a profile. When I press A, it says "retrieving data from servers" then a black screen appears and it goes back to the xbox menu.

I've tried with a friend account and the games works fine.

I followed the help sections : deleted my profile from console, downloaded it again and the same bug still occurs.

My console is up to date, I tried to delete all save files from the game but there isn't any to delete.

I try deleting then reinstalling the game, still the same bug. I tried to install it on local HDD of the console instead of external USB 3.0 HDD but again, no success.

I'm asked to format the console to zero day state, but I do not want to loose all my updates (1to of download, no thanks).

Shadow Warrior 2 just runs fine, no problem at all, that's just the episode 1 that is faulty with my profile.

Any help would be greatly appreciated !

SpeedRunners подорожал на 100 рублей ( да, та самая игра, которая сейчас раздаётся по голду бесплатно ). А на The Shadow Warrior Collection ( это комплект из 2 частей Shadow Warrior, который раньше назывался Shadow Warrior 2 - Launch Edition и продавался
за 50% ) вернули скидку. Теперь она не ограничена по сроку, но размер её - только 15%.

Thank you for the info. If all other attempts have failed then factory resetting the console is the way to go to see if that helps.

However, there's nothing to worry about as far as your installed games go. When you select the option to factory reset you'll have the to either keep your installed content or delete it completely.

 

Thanks for the info onyxishere. I have another console, an xbox one s. I haven't plugged it for a long time but I'll try to update it and use my external HDD to see if the game can run under those circumstances.

Otherwise I'll go with the factory reset while keeping all my installed content.

Hi again, a few lines to let you know that my problem is solved.

Factory reset did nothing, the problems comes from the game itself. I tried to play with an invited profile ( (1) ) and the game runs fine. But I really wanted to play with my regular account.

For some reason, the french language selected in the Xbox parameters make the game bug (is this because my gamertag contains a space ?)

So, the workaround is as follows :

You have to change the language of the xbox one to english, restart the console, then launch Shadow Warrior. With this step I was able to proceed after the splashscreen of the game and create a savefile with my regular profile.

After setting back the system language option to french, restarting the console a second time, the game then resumes the first savegame previously created (with eng. language) and just plays fine.

Hope this can help anyone affected by this strange bug.
