Setup too bright white to read from far

I just bought an Xbox one. I turn it on and the start up background is bright white and the writing is like grey ... anyways it’s very hard to see from far... all the setups online are black backgrounds with white writing and easy to see! How do I change
this from bright to black

Yeah seriously it just conveys obnoxiousness and unnecessary loudness. It's an eyesore, you wouldn't want to read text in a bright neon color you can barely read, would you?
Or one so pastel it hardly shows up against white?

I got a BIG TV last Dec. but I've never had any lag on mine. And not being able to "hit a barn"...that's just the way I suck at games. My only problem is adjusting the brightness/contrast from game to game. Either the darks are too black, while
the whites are too bright. I'm having trouble finding a comfortable medium. I know the settings are about half of what my TV settings are at.
