Settings App wont open and attempting to open it just returns to Home screen. All else works.

Thanks for reaching out to the Forums for advice on how to hopefully get your Settings running as it's supposed to. I can totally understand how this could be a puzzling situation to find oneself in.

If a soft reset (the one that keeps games and apps) didn't do the trick the best next course of action would indeed be to try the one removes everything.

As stated above, your progress is untouched when doing a reset, the only thing deleted would be the games' programs, so you'll be able to pick up right from where you left off once you redownload your games.

I would say you should try a physical Power Cycle/reset of the console.

If the issue persists, you may want to try a ‘soft’ reset of your console to factory defaults.
Make sure you choose the Reset and keep my games & apps.

Do bare in mind you will loose any data that has not been saved /saved to the cloud that is on the console if you choose to reset to factory defaults.

Hello. I really appreciate your reply HOWEVER, as i said above, i've already done a power cycle (shutting down, removing power cord), i've also reset to factory settings (kept saved games, etc).

It seems like the Settings app itself is corrupt? The only thing i can't open is Settings.

it will open when i do that and it opens and closes from the home screen and there is no error it just wont open if i try and use the sensor

Im having a similar problem the only difference is when i open the app i get a black screen then dashboard the app just wont open ive tried reinstalling hard and soft reset nothing seems to work
