    Setting up Xbox One Guide to Computer Monitor


    Hello, I have connected my Charter Cable Box to my Xbox One successfully, but I am stuck at one part of the set up. The step where it tried to turn my cable box on and off worked perfectly, but when it asks me to what brand of TV I am on I have a problem.
    I currently have my Xbox One connected to a HP 2311x computer monitor. This monitor has my computer connected to the DVI and my Xbox One is connected through the HDMI. I have tried saying I have a “HP” TV but I go through the process with that and it still
    cannot recognize my computer monitor. Any ideas?

    Hooking up Xbox One to computer monitor

    Is the audio set to surround sound over optical? At this point the only supported optical SS signal is not supported by alot of DACs, including the Astro A40 Mixamp.

    Hooking up Xbox One to computer monitor

    I'm trying to hook up my xbox one to my computer monitor, which has only vga and dvi ports. I have an hdmi to dvi converter cable hooked up and can see the xbox one picture fine on the computer monitor but am having trouble with sound. I know dvi does not
    carry sound but I have an optical audio cable, digital-to-analog audio adapter, and rca y-cable that hooks up to the converter (items all obtained through advice of others) but cannot figure out how to get sound to play. I have headphones and computer speakers,
    help would be greatly appreciated.

    As a computer monitor must be turned on manually this may be the reason the console will not turn it on with the command. I'm afraid you'll just have to hit the on button for the monitor before you start.

    I think I didn't add enough info to my main comment. My xbox one in fulling connected to my monitor. I'm just trying to set up my cable box to it. My xbox knows how to turn on and off my cable box, but the Xbox can not recognize my monitor through the whole
    "Is it muted now" process. Since I'm using a HP monitor I selected HP TV and it didn't work. I'm trying to see what else I can do to try to connect my cable box to my monitor through my xbox one
