Setting up an additional Xbox One in the house - advice please

Hi.

We currently have an Xbox One S setup as follows;

1. Set to Home Xbox

2. Has me and my two sons as separate user accounts on it

3. Xbox Live Ultimate Account

So that my sons can play at the same time and avoid arguments I have purchased an Xbox One X for another room.

How do I set them up so that any of us can log onto both Xbox's at one time? (e.g. Son 1 can play on one console, Son 2 on the other). Also, will game saves and downloads transfer over/replicate on the new Xbox?

Thanks for your advice, it is much appreciated. I followed what you said and hopefully the below illustrates the 'pre' and 'post' setups;

PRE

Xbox one S: SET AS HOME XBOX

Family Setup

Adult (me) with Ultimate Gold Account

Child 1

Child 2

NOW

Xbox One X: SET AS HOME XBOX

Family Setup

Adult (me) with Ultimate Gold Account

Child 1

Xbox one S: NO LONGER HOME XBOX

Family Setup

Adult (me)

Child 2

So on the Xbox One X (Set as home console) when Child 1 logs on with his account, he can go online with his friends etc. No Problem. I (Adult) don't need to be logged in for this to happen.

However, on the Xbox One S (No longer home console), when Child 2 logs on with his account, he cannot go online with his friends. It says he doesn't have Xbox Live Gold. HOWEVER.... If I log on and then he tries again it works!

Is this normal, or have I missed something on the setup? I'd rather not have to sign in for him before he can get online. Hope this makes sense? Thanks again for your help.

Just to add onto what Ambassador choppyseize said, your game saves are tied to your Xbox Live profile and as such whenever you play a game, your game saves will automatically be downloaded from the cloud so no issues there. Its the same with downloads as
well, however some dlc and preorder content might not be available if the console isn't your Home console, but its usually only small things.

Whoever has the Xbox Live subscription has to make the new console their home Xbox. Then they have to sign in on the other Xbox and use that under their account. It's the only way the two of them can game together without purchasing a separate subscription.
