So I got the awful “no signal” of death on my Xbox One S. Sent it in for to be serviced. Got it back and the video is back, but no audio. It seems to be stuck in a mode where it thinks I’m using headphones. I’m

Not. Simple hdmi connection to my 1080p tv. Sound works great for everything else but nada in gaming mode. It wont even let me switch to hdmi sound and tells me that “your tv is set to dvi mode, you’ll need an optical audio cable if you’re using hdmi cable…”

I’m not in dvi mode, never have been. Don’t even have that on my tv. Up until my recent issue the game played find with both audio and video. **** is going on??

I have a Series S so I don't know if the menu's. will be the same but have you tried going to the settings app then in the General section going to TV & Display Option and then going to Video Fidelity & Overscan and checking if the override setting is on DVI Mode. The service people might've switched it to dvi to fix the no signal of death though

Sounds like your console needs to be serviced. Go to myservice.Xbox.com register your console and submit an order for repair.

Thanks for reaching out to us here on the forums with this situation. I understand your having a high pitched squeaking sound coming from your console. Is it when you load a disc into it or when starting up certain games or apps?

Internal components making sound is something that can only be repaired or fixed by sending your console in for servicing.

Unfortunately, it sounds like your console will need to be serviced by Microsoft. The console should come with a 1 year warranty if it was purchased new.
