  1. Service request number - is this real?

I have received an email stating a service request number from Microsoft support from Xbox

I am not aware i have raised a service request number - though i have been given a number

I had hoped if i accessed my microsoft account i would be able to contact some one or see a log to verify, as i do not want to follow the service request link .

Has anyone else received emails like this

    is it real or fake.

    thoughts anyone

    :)

Check the address in the email and try to compare it to any other Microsoft emails you may have received in the last few months. If the address is the same or similar it's probably a legit email. If its not, that's a telltale sign its a fraudulent email.
To note, you'd be able to tell really easily if it was a fake address as scammers tend to not really make them legit look.

If its legit looking, but you still don't remember sending in a service request... change your password immediately! Someone may have gotten access to your account, and that may not be good if it wasn't you.

Here's also a little article with some tips on how to spot fake emails.

Service request number - is this real?

    Hi VicciPhillips,

Thanks for reaching out to us in the forums with this question. Typically, you'll receive an email with a service request number after you speak with an Xbox Support advocate by either phone or chat. They are sent to the preferred email, or to the primary
email, on the Microsoft/Xbox account that was used during the contact. Has anyone in your family who has an Xbox called in recently regarding any billing, connectivity or hardware issues that you're aware of?

To more directly enquire as to the nature of the email, I would recommend that you
contact Xbox support directly by requesting a call back or chat, then referencing the service request number. Sadly, we here on the forums lack the necessary tools to look into
    these service requests more directly.

    • Log into Support.Xbox.com
    • Scroll down, Click on Contact Us
    • Step 2 : Select a Category, then See other options
    • Step 3 : Select your Issue/Topic
      • Select - Show contact options
      • Select – Call me back or chat with Xbox Support

If you do not see the selection that you wish to use for contact, then switch topics until it becomes available as the selections may change from time to time.

    Hope this helps out!

    Service Request Number

You'll want to contact support directly for assistance. 1-800-4my-xbox if you're in the US/Canada or
    http://support.xbox.com/contact-us
The good news is that using that number I actually talked to a human being in the U.S.

The bad news is the call took 1 hour and 37 mins and, not shockingly, the original service request had inexplicably been canceled. In addition, the service request had been entered for a phantom console serial number that was not associated with my account.
The customer support rep couldn't have been nicer but I've had it with Microsoft. The company is defined by total incompetence and it's too large to have any systems that talk to each other. The customer service agent was as frustrated as I was.

I don't play Xbox nor any other MSFT games and I will never play them nor buy another MSFT product (this is all for my kids' stupid controller). Adios!
