Series X won't connect to my wifi reliably

For months, evertime i turned my series x on, it may or may not connect to the wifi on its own. I would restart once or twice.

But now, suddenly it won't connect at all. Says my wifi password is wrong. Its not. Many devices use it. And about 1 out of 30 attempts allow me to connect.

I already talked to xbox on the phone, he had me change some number .. 8888 8844. Coincidence or not, it worked. 3 days later I can't connect again.

Occasionally..I'll change the port and it'll connect...but now I can't get anything. No other device, including a ps5 has this issue on same wifi. But its not overloaded. Only 2 phones and an alexa on it. The ps5 is a relative that visits.

I'm convinced its the router.. but... its a brand new one. The system doesn't allow for any setting either.

And I've reset a number of times. Router and Xbox. Although the router is not easily accessible. But signal is great. Oh. And a wired connection worked but not an option for me long term.

Hello. Thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately I did not get to the root cause or confirm a solution...but it seems to have settled down a bit.

I will say I believe it is my router. It is a modern name brand one but Unfortunately I don't have the authority to replace it...

The Xbox connects 75% of the time and always connects within 1 or two restarts. Sometimes I clear the mac and it initiates a restart and works then.

I need to pick my battles...but this xbox isn't one of them.

I may have explained it wrong. A PS5 and any of devices ALWAYS connect.

Just the Xbox has issues.

There are a few things I do to play..first I turn on the Xbox. If after 45 seconds or more its not connected, I go to the advanced network settings, clear mac address and an automatic restart. About 7/10 times it will then connect. If not, I restart again. Almost all times it seems to connect after 3 restarts or less.

I'm sure its the router.. but doesn't allow any settings...I am moving soon, I'll have MY OWN router and will try then.

We understand the inconvenience caused. As per description, you are having an issue connecting Xbox Series X to your WIFI. You cannot log in using right password. This is only happening to you console and the PS5 to a visiting relative. Let us check on this together and sort this out to assist your concern.

Based on your post details, it sounds that it is the router having the trouble. You have contacted already to our live support, your connection is perfect, other devices can log in with no trouble. Did you try contacting your Internet Provider and report this issue? This could be setting issue on the router with Xbox console and PS5. Even though it is a brand-new router, this does not mean it can skip for some factory settings issues.

The best thing to do for now is to refer this problem to your Internet Provider if the router comes along with their package or to third-party dealer.
