Series X with additional Xbox 4TB drive

Hi guys,

I've just received my new Series X and all my games are currently installed on the 4TB drive (Xbox One). I was wondering about enhanced games for the Series X and have a couple of questions.

If I bought a new game (physical copy) and download the game to the 4TB drive do I have to move the entire game to the SSD or is it just the enhanced update patch that is written to the SSD to benefit?

Similar to the above, if I have a game installed on the 4TB drive i.e. Halo Masterchief do I need to move the entire 100gb or whatever it is to the SSD to get the upgrade?

Hi,

When my Xbox One games were upgraded to Series X the system moved them to the drive that can support them - I have the optional Expansion card.

Nothing to stop you moving them yourself before hand. But these games must be moved either way as they won't run on an external USB drive and it's not possible to have a game split up on to different drives.

If you've finished playing a Series X/S game, you can move it back to your external drive for archive purposes - save you downloading/installing it again, but it must be moved back in order to play it.

If you can use the headset on the Xbox One / S / X, it should be usable on the Series X,

Steel Series website on the Arctis 9X Headset states it will work on Xbox Series X, if its the Arctis 9X.

As far as I know, most if not all current hardware will be compatible with the Series X, even your games on your external hard drive can just be plugged in and enjoyed.

This makes it easy for me as I have a 4TB external myself and its almost full.

I wouldn't run the game direct from the 4TB hard drive as you wont get the fast loading or fast travel times that the Custom NVMe SSD offers, best to transfer you most regular played games on to the Xbox Series X SSD.

It would just like to add that Series X|S games are developed to only use faster storage. Not only is this storage totally different to a mechanical hard drive, the way games are loaded is also different. In addition, the Xbox Series X|S hardware can leverage additional resources to load to games from internal SSD or external SSD's even faster, what Microsoft calls its Xbox 'Velocity Architecture'.

As previously stated, you're never going to be able load your Xbox Series X games from an external hard drive. They're just too slow.

1 other question the XBOX series X internal hard drive 1TB can Microsoft allow you to upgrade to 2TB internal storage or say 3TB or 4TB as many new games uses nearly 100 GB each so if you have 10 games the harddrive easily fills up I feel Microsoft should of made the Xbox series X internal harddrive expandable so you can increase the internal storage space of the device please don't confuse with card slots on the back of the console for Seagate expansion drive
