Series X will not update or download games or apps

Xbox Series X games / upgrades / updates has to be installed onto the Series X internal or expansion card SSD,

You can have Xbox One games on your external hard drive that will get an Series X upgrade but the games will need to be transferred to the Series X and then the Series X upgrade will need to be downloaded onto the Series X SSD,

As an example...

I have Marvel Avengers on my external hard drive that will get the Series X upgrade and I will transfer the game over to the Series X SSD ready to download and update the game to the Series X version when available.

I'm having the exact same problem. So is my son on his Series X. Ever since the latest update that changed the desktop. It seems as though our xBox are indeed totally useless.

Sorry to hear you are having issues. Have you tried doing a factory reset but keeping games and apps?

One thing more if using external hdd and moved all games to hdd, you have to move series X-optimized games over to internal storage afterwords, to take full advantage of series X.

There is a filter option in Games&Apps listing only optimized games.

Then after a few minutes there will be updates for most of them. Many cases new full downloads of game. So if doing manual checks for updates like I do, you have to go there and look in any.

are the games showing S/X if so then they are downloading the updated versions for series consoles which cannot be stopped
