series x stuck in 640 480 after booting up ?

I'm sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with your console.

Would you mind giving these a try?

A) - Power Cycle:

• Press and hold the Xbox button on your console for 10 seconds, until it shuts down.

• Unplug the power cord from your console for 3 - 5 minutes.

• Turn your TV/monitor off and unplug it for a minute or two.

• Plug everything back together and turn your console on.

B) - Make sure your console's settings allow 4K resolution.

• Go to Settings > General > TV & Display options > Video modes > and make sure 4K is enabled.

• Go to Settings > General > TV & Display options > Video fidelity & overscan > Override > Auto-detect.

• Try changing your resolution again.

C) - Try using a different HDMI cable.

D) - Try using a different HDMI port on your TV/monitor.

E) - Unplug all external devices from your console's USB ports.

F) - Disable HDR and any other visual enhancement features on your TV/monitor.

G) - Try using a different TV.

If this doesn't work, please do a soft factory reset:

• Go to Settings > System > Console info > Reset Xbox > Keep games and apps.

Keep in mind you will need an internet connection and your account details (email and password) to complete the console's setup process.

*** Resetting your console to its factory defaults erases all accounts, saved games, settings, and home Xbox associations. Anything not synchronized with Xbox Live will be lost. If your console has been constantly connected to the internet and Xbox Live services, your saved data should be backed up on the cloud.

I have the exact same problem, like so many people out there (see reddits threads for example).

I've tried everything you said. I've contacted the Xbox Support who told me to try all these steps as well. YES, it solves the problem on the moment. BUT NO, it does NOT fix the problem permanently ! After a few reboots, the problem comes back again.

I'm very disappointed as apparently no fix exists, the support does not really want to take back the console, and doing a power cycle for every devices everyday or almost is NOT a solution.

What you have done is put into the lowest setting. You just need to go into the display settings and change the display back to the setting you have been using. Instructions how to can be found here

It will not work on any other resolution besides the lowest one (640 x 480)

Is this resolution problem happening only when you connect the console to this LG screen?
Or if you didn’t try yet, please connect the console to a different TV / monitor and check if something similar happens

We need to cover first all the possibilities
