Series X stopped connecting to the 5G WiFi after the latest update

Hello, Yesterday I downloaded the new system update and since then my series X won't connect to 5GHz WiFi. It only works with 2.4G signal which is unfortunately a lot slower. I tried restarting router couple times, tried to configure WiFi settings but nothing helps. I can see my 5G WiFi on the network list, but when I try to connect, I get the error message suggesting that something is wrong with router or the password is not correct. Every other device works fine so it's not the case of the router or WiFi itself.

    Anyone has similiar problem?

Google fiber xbox one x slow download speeds

This sounds like an issue with the setup used to connect.

Are you connecting the Xbox via WiFi? If so, make sure your Router supports 5G wifi and you are actually connecting to the 5G wifi not the 2.4Ghz one. Usually you will find WiFi networks like MYWIFINETWORK and MYWIFINETWORK_PLUS or MYWIFINETWORK_5G. You
should connect to the "PLUS" or "5G" ones, because old 2.4GHz WiFi only supports up to 100Mbps.

If you are connecting over ethernet it can be a similar issue. You need a quality ethernet cable that supports the latests standard and velocity (I think it was called E.5 or something among those lines). Otherwise you will have a 100Mbps bottleneck.

    Hope that helps!
I have my pc,xbox one x,ps4 pro and shield to pro hooked to the D-Link TL-SG105 switch. All wired with Cat6 cables.Google router/modem only has 1 ethernet port.

Xbox Series X won’t connect to WiFi after latest update

    Hi Amy,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Xbox Community. I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues connecting your Xbox to your Wi-Fi router. For us to isolate your issue, please provide the exact error message that you're receiving whenever you try to connect to the network.

I understand that you've tried restarting your console. I would recommend that you perform a power cycle to ensure that the system cache will be cleared and the power supply will be restarted. Kindly follow the steps below.

    1. Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will turn off.

    2. Unplug the console's power cable. Wait 50 seconds.

Important: Make sure that you wait at least 50 seconds. This step resets the power supply.

    3. Turn your console back on by pressing the Xbox button on the console or the Xbox button on your controller.

If you don't see the green boot-up animation when the console restarts, repeat these steps. Make sure that you hold the power button until the console completely shuts down.

Important If your console is in Sleep mode, the above steps will shut the console off completely. Sleep mode, or the ability to turn on your console by saying "Xbox on," won't be enabled until you restart the console.

    Regards,

    Alvaro

Xbox Series X won't connect to WiFi after latest update

    Hi Nikki,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Xbox Community. I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues connecting your Xbox Series X to your Wi-Fi.

I understand that you already restarted your router. However, to ensure that the power supply of your router will reset for any cache to be deleted completely, please do a power cycle by turning off the device, pulling it out of the power outlet for 50 seconds before turning it back on.

If the initial steps does not work, try to connect your Xbox to a different router. You may test it using your smartphone as mobile hotspot and see how it goes. Please keep me posted.

    Regards,

    Alvaro

    Help connecting to 5G internet

Hello Ian M, I am an independent advisor and I will be happy to help you today. My name is Khaji

If you're having trouble connecting your Xbox Series S to 5G Internet, follow these steps

Check signal and coverage Make sure the 5G signal is available and you have good coverage in your location. 5G connectivity may be more sensitive to distance and obstacles than traditional Wi-Fi. If the 5G signal is weak or unstable, you may have difficulty connecting. Try moving your Xbox Series S closer to the 5G router or access point to improve signal quality.

Also check to see if firmware updates are available for your router. Firmware updates can fix compatibility issues and improve 5G connection performance. Check your router manufacturer's website for the latest available updates and install them by following the instructions provided.

Configure the router correctly. Make sure your router is configured correctly to support 5G connection. You can consult your router's manual or manufacturer's website for specific instructions on how to enable and configure 5G connectivity. Make sure you follow the proper steps and save your changes correctly.

In the network settings of your Xbox Series S, check if the auto-connect option is enabled. If you can't connect automatically, try manually setting up the connection by selecting the specific 5G network from the list of available networks. Make sure you enter the correct password if required.

Thank you very much for your patience and understanding! If you need anything else, do not hesitate to contact us again.
