Series X remote play session disconnects immediately upon connecting; cannot play.

I've been using this feature as long as I've had the Series X (over a year) and all of a sudden last week it started disconnecting as soon as it establishes a connection. So, the video stream establishes and at the bottom of the screen I see a " has stopped playing remotely." notification on screen (see below) and my controller doesn't do anything on the screen except go back and forth between the virtual guide button and the ellipsis button in the app. And then after about 40 seconds the video connection drops as well.

I was hoping an update to the PC app would fix it but it is still happening after receiving one. I can't be the only one right?

Do all the steps on the Network Issues section and let me know if they solve your problem.

I actually got it to work about 2 hrs ago. Once I tested remote play from my phone and getting the same behavior I determined that it was not my PC it has to be the console. So after several full reboots to no avail, I finally just unplugged the power supply from the back of the Xbox for a good minute and then plugged it back in.

I don't know what caused it, but it seems to be working perfectly again.

I'm glad it worked! This is called a Power Cycle (or Power Reset): turn Xbox completely off, remove the Power cable, wait 1-5 minutes and them plug it back in and turn Xbox on.

It does a "refresh" on your console's network. Works for a lot of problems!

I have a an Xbox series X.

I can use remote play on my iphone fine the first time I connect remotely, games play no problem over mobile internet, I have a dedicated controlller set up for remote play

But when I have finished that session and disconnect, the next time I try to connect it says it cannot connect. Only a hard reset will allow reconnection after that.

I tried this once when someone was at home and I was remote and a hard reset allowed me to reconnect straight away, but it then reverted back to not reconnecting.

I am wondering if it’s the way i am disconnecting that might be the issue or something.

Currently I exit game to Home Screen, hold down xbox button on controller and then select turn off console, should just revert console to should mode? Not sure how else I should disconnect or how I can reset the console remotely.

Series S/X games cannot be played from a hard drive connected via USB. Series S/X games can only be played from the internal drive or the official expansion cards that attach directly in the back of the console. Again, no USB connected drives can play Series S/X games.
