    See picture attached. I got new Sony headphones for Black Friday and plugged them into the Series X controller. I'm trying to hear all game audio through the headset. However, there is no audio coming through the headphones; it is still all coming through the TV/soundbar.

    Moreover, the Xbox Audio settings are all greyed out and the headphone audio settings are all the way down, and they're stuck and I can't increase it.

    Please help.

    Edit: things I've tried:

    Restarting the console

    Restarting the controller

    Trying different headphones

    Enabling "HDMI audio headset" and disabling it

    Plugging the headphones into the jack veeeery slowly

    The headphones work perfectly fine with my phone.

    Thank you for that. Unfortunately it hasnt worked. I still cant hear any game chat, and the chat mixer is still greyed out.

    I should point out that if I plug my wired headset into my wireless controller, I can hear chat.

    Hi there!

    Getting game audio is dependent on what type of headphones you have. If you have stereo headphones and you plug into the 3.5mm port on the controller, you can access the chat mixer slider by pressing the Xbox button and select "Audio" in the System tab right
    under Settings. From there, the second slider down titled "Headset chat mixer" is where you control how loud you want the game audio compared to the chat audio.

    Hi there!

    The chat adapter pulls game audio and chat to the headphons. I'm using a pair of Bose headphones with an inline mic. Works a charm with headset adapter. No wire to console. Its wireless. Just plug the 4pole 3.5mm plug into adapter, and I get game audio and
    chat. If you dont believe me, do some research.

    With the headset and adapter plugged into the controller that came with your Xbox One X, try going into the audio settings in the guide. There should be in the middle that's called "chat mixer."

    If you move the slider all the way to the left, then you should get only the audio from the game. All the way to the right is for chat / party.

    If the "chat mixer" option isn't there, then I can only assume it's a hardware issue.
