Series X Network adapter fried by power surge?

We recently had a power surge, which seems to maybe have fried my network adapter on my Series X. I’ve reset the Xbox, power cycled both router and Xbox, and none of my usual tricks seem to be working. The Xbox can still “find” the WiFi signal, but it doesn’t seem to be connecting to anything, other then a hardwired WiFi extender, which works but isn’t the best fix, as I lose a ton of speed. Any suggestions? I’ve tried different ports, resetting the MAC address, and nothing has fixed it yet.

    :)

So it will show that the networks are there and available, gets to checking connection and then it gives me a hardware error and says it can’t connect to your wireless network, then goes through 5 options to suggest fixes. I tried all of them that it mentions, but no luck!

Greetings, and welcome to the Xbox Community! Connect with players from around the world, get help when you need it, and share your gaming journey.

Yeah, a power surge could totally mess up the network adapter in your Xbox Series X. It’s probably fried the Wi-Fi or Ethernet parts inside, which might explain why it’s not connecting properly, even if it can still spot the Wi-Fi signal.

When you say it “finds” the Wi-Fi but won’t connect, what exactly happens? Does it give you an error, or does it just keep trying and eventually give up?

A power surge would prevent the xbox and your pc to be fried like that

I hope you have a surge protector if you are playing when there are storms. If not one good power surge and your stuff is fried.

A power outage exactly something that could have broken it, as the electricity surging could have fried the port
