Series x internal storage

So if i add up all my games i have about 16 total downloaded , when i add up how much space it says they take up it leaves me around 5-8 gb more than what i have avalible acording to the system space taken up. Any ideas as to why this is? Do profiles take up space? Or is it something else?

Hi,

If your game is now a Series X optimised title, it can no longer be played off an external hard drive. It must be moved to either the internal storage or an optional expansion card.

External USB hard drives are too slow to play Series X optimised games. None Series X games will still run from your external drive. The internal storage in the Series X is a fast NVME SSD. These drives are several times faster than mechanical hard drives.

I only have a few game saves and my profile , what would the cache be?

gamesaves, cache, saved clips, profiles all take space.

Does anyone know if game updates or some add on’s such as fortnite save the world add on show up in the file size ? Or if system updates take up more storage space as well? It’s just weird loosing like 8 Gb that I don’t know where it is. I only have games downloaded no media streaming apps at the moment. I’m also curious as to how much space gets used for a profile and game caches?

You can use an external storage device for backwards compatible content and to store Series X games, but the Series X games will only run off the internal drive or the expansion card.
