Series X Game Capture

Hello all,

Just giving this a shot to see if anyone else is having the same issue and any possible fixes,

I record game captures via an external WD 500GB hard drive, (I used to use this for my One X before getting a Series X)

Game capture works mostly but sometimes it will only record a few seconds of a capture, on occasions when it does capture the full amount of footage it will play with no sound, a live chat with Microsoft and the steps they advised actually made it worse, my last port of call is exporting the captures onto my PC and re-format the drive but was hoping there is a fix out there that someone knows,

Xbox series x. There is so much documentation about this issue, no-one has a solution (apart from streaming on twitch, saving the vod and then editing the video). Compared with my xbox one captures, taken well over a year ago, they are awful, choppy, stuttering messes. This is not a problem on my end, this is a problem with the xbox series x capture system. The fact captures are STILL terrible is a joke, given the series x was released over 18 months ago.

I have a slightly similar issue.

Im on a Series S and at one point i had over 100 clips. now i can only have about 20 at a time and even after the "ask a gamer" chat and my own troubleshooting nothing has helped. I have 175 gb free and i only own 9 games (all of which are less than 10-15 GB each excluding siege and forza horizon 4). I was told this system is "made like this" so it saves room for updates and the only solution would be to export them and make room.

I just want to understand why 2 months ago i could have soo many clips while now it won't let me do anything without deleting multiple captures.

Hi,

No sorry, it's not possible. Only the Xbox One and Series X|S can capture pictures and videos directly via the console.

I would like to have an answer to this as well. 1080p captures on the Series X appear to be capped at 1 minute now. Not only is this laughably low, to the point of uselessness, but this was never communicated to us. It looks like it was a stealth change that shipped with a console update about 3 months back. The PS5's capture settings are far and away superior to what we have on the Series X. Even the Xbox One allowed 2-min 1080p and 5-min 720p captures.

What's going on here?
