    Series X controller keeps disconnecting from wireless adapter


    Hi guys, I just got a used series X controller + wireless adapter combo. I used them for my PC and the Bluetooth connection worked perfectly fine. On the other side, the wireless connection was the pain in the neck.

    When the controller was in idle mode, the connection was stable, but when I played Forza Horizon 5 on Steam, the connection was disconnected continuously and sometimes they wouldn't connect again. I noticed that the adapter turned off automatically and got really hot. What should I do to solve this problem?

    Note:

    1. When the controller is turned on, it will connect with the adapter automatically
    2. The controller is updated to the latest firmware
    3. I also updated the XBOX wireless adapter driver through Windows update
    4. I have tried plugging the adapter everywhere: back IO, front panel, extended usb cable
    5. I used a pair of AA battery

    Hello Vũ, sorry to hear you're having trouble with your controller.

    I've been doing some research on this issue and it seems as though a lot of Steam users have been having similar problems. As per this thread https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/1/... it is recommended to make sure the controller is fully updated via the Xbox Accessories app and that your PC also has no pending updates. If there are any updates then run them and restart the PC then try again.

    My controller has been updated to the latest firmware 12 hours ago, and there is no updates pending. What should I do now?

    Thanks for letting me know. In this case try the steps at this link https://lifehacker.com/how-to-use-an-xbox-serie.... If they still don't work then you may be limited to playing on steam only while the controller is connected via USB. My apologies.
