Series.x controller face button issues

The only issue I've had with my Xbox One controllers is that 1 of the 2 of them has a sticky A button that's not as responsive as the other face buttons.

They just don't care about this problem I guess. Its very annoying.

I have had the exact same issue with several series X controllers. I love the feel and shape of these controllers but the face button issue has me buying 3rd party controllers until this gets fixed.

I have had the same issue with the new design of the controller not registering proper clicks but I think its just a design flaw because it does work just have to make sure you are properly clicking the controller button. I have noticed that the new design
has the xbox home button flush with the controller face so it's not as easy to click the button to the point that the controller registers the action to the console. It takes some getting use to IMO. The initial design of the controller has the xbox home button
slightly lifted from the face plate of the controller making it easier to feel and get proper textured feedback when pressed down. Though I'm not sure if the new design has anything different about the depth and pressure needed to press before xbox home button
registers but that can be part of the issue as well.

This is a real problem: you can press face buttons (especially the A button, maybe other buttons), get the tactile and audible clicky feedback that it's been pressed, without the controller actually registering an input. I was demonstrating the issue to a Gamestop clerk today, personally ready to go through their entire stock of controllers until I found one that works consistently, but while we were fiddling with it, I decided that it's possible to learn press the button consistently.

To me, it's still unreliable enough that I won't be mapping any important inputs to the A button, but the controller is otherwise the best option available for PC. The Razer Wolverine v2 and v2 Chroma probably have more reliable face buttons, but it lacks the other premium features that I like on the Xbox Elite. Scuf controllers are apparently built from first-party Xbox controllers, so probably have the same face-button problems. So I'm going to try to get used to the finicky A button.

I think this is an important defect, and Microsoft should put some effort into making sure the button doesn't feel like a press if it isn't going to report a press. But the controller also has so many great features, and the A button is consistent if you learn to sort of press it too firmly/"too intentionally".

So maybe this issue is enough to give up on the Elite series 2 controller, or maybe it's a great controller despite the A button problem. \shrug
