    As much an FYI post but also curious if everyone is the same...

    First week or so the fan on my Series X was always on - even after the console had been in stand-by for hours. I've seen a few posts from 'experts' claiming this was normal but it never seemed right to me.

    Just noticed there it has finally stopped. Xbox is on stand-by (instant on mode not full shut-down) and fan is off. Switched on to check all ok and fan starts fine and again stops completely when device is switched off.

    So i'd call bs on the 'yeah it's normal' answers and say this was maybe a bug that has been fixed (although last update was 17/11 - but maybe i only noticed now). Fan being completely off when device isn't doing anything seems normal to me - running all
    the time doesn't.

    Anyone else notice this change? Anyone know if there was an update?

    Xbox Series X fan runs loud when playing Series X games

    So, I recently noticed that my Xbox Series X fan runs loud when playing Series X|S / Optimised for Series X|S games specifically.

    It’s quite strange as it’s dead quiet every other time, but as soon as I start a Series X|S game, the fan becomes so loud that I need to turn up the tv volume.. it’s quite distracting.

    Has anyone else experienced this? Any solutions?

    FYI - My Series X is a pre-order/launch day model.. and it sits in an open and well ventilated tv/entertainment stand*

    In comparison, I owned an Xbox One S for three years and I never heard the fan on that.
    I’m having the exact same problem now. The only time my Xbox sounds loud is when running series x enhanced games, it’s completely fine on old gen games. Have you had this issue fixed or is it still a problem now?

    Thanks for replying. I read on reddit that the fan is always on on instant on mode to prevent dust. I guess that isnt true then?

    It is not always on. As you observed it may run a few minutes after power down. It could start running if it’s doing some complex updates as well. But if it’s not doing anything neither is the fan

    My Xbox Series X will randomly turn off when i am playing a game. I will play a game for about an hour and then it shuts off. I do not have anything covering the vents and I don’t understand why it keeps turning off. I’ve looked up lots of videos
    on how to fix the problem but none of them seem to be working. I would really appreciate finding out a way to fix the problem permanently.
    Are you standing it upright and on carpet ? If so put it on hardwood or a clean shelf

    The vents with fans are ontop and the bottom is the outake and shouldnt be blocked your carpet will gather heat

    This is the result of dust getting on the fan blades which usually causes the fan to get loud.
