Series X and xbox one, one household, one gold account

Hi,

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I bought a series X. My wife uses the xbox one to watch TV but has recently now become a gamer. If I'm playing an online game on the series X and she logs in on my gold account on the xbox one which is the home console. I get kicked off of my game. We aren't playing the same games. Some of the games she is playing are the old 360 games on gamepass. Same vice versa if I make the series X the home console. Can only one person be online at one time on a single gold account? Are microsoft looking to fix this? Seems a bit over complicated for a next gen console. Or am I doing something wrong?

You said she's signing into your gold account on the Xbox One. Is she actually signing into your account to use the Gold? If you have the console set as your Home, she wouldn't need your account. Your account can't be signed in on 2 consoles at the same time to play a game so that would kick you off. It shouldn't kick you off if the console is set as your Home and she just stays signed in on her account.

For anybody else having this issue there is one word that will save you all the confusion. Offline.

Set an xbox to home. Switch both xboxes off, switch them both back on. In my instance my wife goes offline but is still on my profile and can play any game offline. She doesn't like online multiplayer so it's not a problem. She has access to all the game pass games which she can download online then play offline without the disruption.......... Sorted.

Elaborating slightly: None of our family accounts on the same xbox aside from mine have xbox live gold (ultimate in my case). Previously on xbox one x, for instance, my wifes xbox account, she would sign into MWF3 360, go to live and join games. Now on
xbox series X, same exact steps, it throws the error. You could always play under other accounts as long as one account was a live paid account (360 or regular xbox one x titles), now it only works for one x or one x series x titles.

Also I forgot to mention on Xbox one once you own one gold account you can make as many free new gold accounts as you want in your household. On Xbox 360 you would have to pay 60$ for each whereas all you need on Xbox one is one gold subscription then other
accounts are free.

If they were willing to share the same Gamertag/MS Account then yes. If they want separate Gamertags/MS Accounts then no. Currently there is not a family plan for the Xbox 360 so if 2 accounts within the same household want Gold, then both will require a
separate subscription. If you have an Xbox One, only 1 account will need Gold and an unlimited amount of accounts within the household can use gold. Hope this helps!
