    Series X and Series S both losing WiFi connection - Automatic IP's changing


    I have a series X (living room) and Series S (kids room) which were both connected successfully to my WiFi with Automatic IP/DNS for 18+ months with no issue. Recently, both disconnected at the same time.. both can now connect ONLY to my WiFi extender, but not the main router.. not the 2.4ghz WiFi, not the 5ghz WiFi, not wired directly from router to console.. I now get various connection failure warnings when trying to connect directly to my router.. it claims i'm using a static IP when i'm not, or the IP and DNS listed on the console (again, on Automatic) are both 0.0.0.0... or the addresses change to something else and then disappear/revert back to 0.0.0.0. I don't know if this is a router issue but it feels like it is... all other devices (3 iPads, 2 mobile phones) all connect to 2.4G and 5G Wifi without issue.

    Hoping someone else has had their "Automatic" console IP addresses chopping and changing and disappearing and then updating to IP's nowhere near the Gateway IP... and can offer some insight into how to get back to full functionality of my gaming systems. the half-speed through the Extender is KILLING me...

    NB: I have reset router, reset console. done the "reset but keep saved games/apps" hard reset... forgotten and re-connected to networks.. only WiFi via extender works. nothing wired, nothing direct via router.

    Hi,

    Have you tried to reset your consoles network settings back to factory default?

    Is your console able to connect properly using static IP settings?

    So could u still play a game on a old gen if it says optimized for Xbox series x/s

    You would have to check if the game was released on older gen or not. If it says it's only for Series S/X, then no. If it says it'll work on both the One and Series S/X, then yes.

    A game can be optimized for the Series S/X but still work on both, but not always.
