  1. Series X and One X - Insider builds disable HDR in games when switching TV's Game Mode...

First, already reported using Series X. To have HDR working again, it's necessary to quit and restart the game.

I remember this was happening before on One X too, before unplugging it from my TV. Now, after installing the Insider build, it's also a thing again.

I'm using a Samsung Q80R TV. Anyone else facing this with other brands?

Switching Game Mode while playing shouldn't originate an issue like this. A lot of people prefer to play with it disabled to have better picture quality in single player games and has always been a relatively common thing to do during gameplay. Now it's really annoying to have to totally quit the game!

I'm really afraid this problem start to happen in the next public build release.

Edit 1: Tried opening HDR Calibration to force HDR activation as a workaround. It works for the app, but the running game will still be stuck in SDR, unfortunately. Still have to quit it.

Edit 2: Just found a workaround. If TV's FreeSync is disabled, HDR isn't lost when switching Game Mode on and off! Is this another known issue already? It wasn't in the official support website.

Red Dead Redemption 2 bad graphics

RDR2 never received a Series upgrade. The Series Snis playing the base Xbox One version. To access the One X version you would need a Series X

You should disable auto HDR on the console if it’s not playing well, and make sure to do the same on your TV. That’s the fake HDR where the tv guesses not the real thing.

It’s also possible the two are clashing

Atmos Delay fix (worked for me, at least) and audio detection issues

Sure Geri, thanks for the reply. As an update, I ran further tests with Xbox support via phone this morning. Long post, but....

    Results as follows:

    Connection path - Series X > HDMI 2.1 cable > Samsung QN85B HDMI port 4 > QN85B eARC port (2.0b spec) >HDMI 2.1 cable > HW-Q700A eARC port (2.0b marketed as 2.1 48gbps port)

Enabling game mode results in Xbox detecting capability for DD 5.1 (COMPRESSED), Stereo Uncompressed and Atmos. Enabling/disabling game surround sound option in TV game mode settings causes no detection change. Disabling game mode entirely allows detection of 5.1 uncompressed audio capability by Xbox. No lag, no drop out. Crisp and clear audio. However this also disables Auto HDR recognition by TV, even if 4:2:2 check box is enabled in video settings. Games with built in HDR do initiate QMS in TV for HDR mode. As previously noted, in 1 of 20 attempts at cycling CEC on Series X I did get a positive pull for 7.1 uncompressed, but it disabled as soon as I opened a streaming video app.

When switching display mode from auto detect to HDMI in Xbox video settings, Xbox loses positive detection for 4K 60/120, HDR and VRR (I'm aware this is a known issue) however I gain positive detection on additional audio formats the HW-Q700A is capable of. (Dolby Atmos, Dolby Digital 5.1,

    5.1 uncompressed, 7.1 uncompressed and DTS/DTS:X)

Connection Path: Series X > HDMI 2.1 cable > HW-Q700A > HDMI 2.1 cable > QN85B eARC port (HDMI 2.0B) maintained all correct audio detection, lost 120hz green light but oddly VRR remained active. Inadequate time to test actual framerate output in practice.

Xbox series X currently removed from outsider program builds for testing. Video settings enabled : 4k, HDR 10, Auto HDR, 50hz and 24 hz. Display mode auto detect, 10 bit color with profile set as PC RGB. Switching to any combination of 8bit, 10bit, 12bit, standard and/PC RGB makes no difference in settings detection, but set as is produces marked changes when setting TV color profile to bt.2020.

Maybe a whole bunch of nonsense, maybe something I'm missing. I don't know.

Xbox series X game brightness issue

I've had this occasionally and as far as I can tell it's related to how my Series X (or One X before that) invokes HDR on my TV. It's intermittent and was often resolved by launching a HDR game or rebooting my XBox.

My Xbox x is on but MW2 will not load. It’s just flashing on my tv screen

Hi, Anthony! Thank you for reaching out.
I'm AJ, an independent Advisor for the Xbox Community.
I'm sorry to hear you are experiencing issues playing MW2 on your console.

This sounds like it could be related to your HDR settings. Would you mind giving this a try?

    - Quit the game
    - Go to Settings > General > TV & display options > Video Modes > and then disable all HDR options.
    - Go on your TV Settings and disable special viewing modes and features such as Game mode, Dolby vision, etc.
    - Relaunch the game.

If the previous steps don't work or are not applicable to your set up, I'd appreciate if your could answer the following questions:

    - To clarify, is this an Xbox One X or an Xbox Series X?
    - Is this happening with any other games besides MW2? or maybe while on the console's dashboard?
    - Are you getting any error codes/messages when this happens?

Thank you! I'll be looking forward to your reply.
    Best regards.

Xbox Series X 4K HDR blu-ray to SDR bug

Since my TV does not support HDR, I cannot activate it and it is disabled by default.

As I really like Interstellar, it was offered to me in 4k without knowing that I do not have a 4k TV.

What I mean is Xbox series X has a very dark image with HDR blu-ray. But when I watch HDR blu-ray on my PS5 I have no problem.

I think Xbox series x is not converting HDR to SDR correctly but that the ps5 yes.

On the other hand, blu-ray 4k comes out very well on a 1080p TV.
